Download Google drive for iPhone and iPad

Earlier today, we posted that Google has finally released Google Chrome for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. That’s not enough for today, we have great news for Google drive users, and Google has finally released Google drive for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. Google drive was released about 10 weeks ago for desktop users; it’s Dropbox like virtual drive to store all your data such as documents, pictures, music and other important files.

Here’s what Google explained about the important features of this App:

Features:
– Quickly and easily access and view your documents, photos and videos anywhere
– Make files available offline so you can view them even when you don’t have Internet connection
– Easily share files with collaborators on the go
– Sync files across your desktop and all your devices
– Open files from Drive with other apps installed on your device
– Star your most important files to easily find them later

Google drive initially offers 5Gb of free space which is twice as compared to the Dropbox but Google drive for iPhone isn’t as good as it should be. One of the main features of Google drive is that you can make new documents and store them on Google drive just like Google documents. You will be disappointed to hear that this feature is lacking in Google drive for iOS.

In the very first version of Google drive, you can view photos, music files and can use any file compatible with iOS but if you open a document file or any other file which is not compatible with iOS, it will redirect to Safari. So, if you want to open a document or want to create one, it will open the link in safari, where you can enter your login details and will be able to make a new document.

That’s not the end, there are certain other important features which are lacking in native in Google drive app for example you can view the photos but can’t save them in the Camera roll.

With these Pros and Cons, if you are still interesting to install Google drive on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, you can download it for absolutely free of cost [iTunes Link].
